And you're right, I think that the focus as a human has to always be other humans, that always has to be the priority, is the love that we have with of each other. And so those have always stayed consistent. Is it as important?īriggs: Music will always be that grounding force, and I think with songwriting, it allows it to be as therapeutic as it can be. That's all I can do.īaltin: Having gone through so much I imagine music's role in your life changes. But I think with all these things, especially because these songs are so personal, all I can really do is just put my soul out there and lead with authenticity and just be present in my vulnerability. Coachella will be the first time performing them. Yeah.īaltin: Music is, as you say, therapeutic, but it must be interesting to go back and revisit these songs, 'cause talking about an emotional roller coaster to lose your sister and then get pregnant.īriggs: And even in rehearsal it's a journey.īaltin: Have you done the songs live yet?īriggs: I have rehearsed them. But I really felt her with "High Water" because even our home videos are in the background, and a lot of little details in the production were parts of our journey together as sisters and best friends.īaltin: How far apart were you two in age?īriggs: Two years, but we were raised as twins. The joyfulness that comes through with "Art of Survival," of course, I feel in her presence. Baltin: Do you feel your sister's imprint on the song when you hear "Art of Survival"?īriggs: Oh, wow, wow, that's really layered.
